Hola friends, what if I told you that you have complete control over avoiding burnout? Not just surviving, but truly designing a life that feels good to live in. It doesn't require a huge overhaul, just a few small intentional steps.
DrC:Today we're moving from knowledge to action and designing our personal wellness plan together. Stay with me. Welcome to life. I'm so honored you're here with me today. In full transparency, I am still a work in progress when it comes to consistently putting myself first, unapologetically. So this chat is as much a needed reminder for me as it is a call to action for you.
DrC:My simple goal today is to help you move from knowing you should invest in yourself to actually taking action. Action that improves your quality of life. The best part, you have complete control over this. Are you ready?
DrC:Okay, so let's start with our first pillar. Learn. Before we can build our plan, we have to understand what we're up against. What is burnout really? Well, in 2019, the World Health Organization officially recognized it, defining it as a syndrome resulting from unmanaged, prolonged stress.
DrC:T he key word there is unmanaged. It's not a personal failing, it's a consequence of our environment and habits. The main factors are things we all know too well: unreasonable demands, feeling like we lack control, not having enough unplugged time, and lacking the resources we need. But this isn't just a feeling of being tired. It has serious physical and psychological consequences.
DrC:On the physical side, we're talking about cardiovascular issues, sleep disturbances, and an extreme fatigue that rest just doesn't seem to fix.
DrC:And psychologically, it can manifest as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. It can decrease your productivity and ability to solve problems effectively.
DrC:So this isn't just in your head, it's your body's check engine light flashing, telling you that the system is overloaded and something needs to change.
DrC:So now that we know the stakes, this leads us right into our second pillar: inspire. How do we find the motivation to take back control? See, it starts with a simple, powerful idea. This is your project. Your wellness is your responsibility, and you have the power to design a plan that works for you.
DrC:Think about it this way: have you ever told someone you love that they need to take a break or take better care of themselves? Of course you have. We do it because we know that no one can truly serve from an empty vessel. You can't pour from an empty cup. You are that vessel. You are that cup.
DrC:To show up as your best self for the people and the causes you care about, you must be at your best. Or you're just serving fumes. See, the motivation today is to see your wellness not as another chore, but as the foundation upon which your entire life is built.
DrC:So let's get inspired to move from knowing to doing, from knowledge to action.
DrC:Okay, we've laid the foundation. We know what burnout is, and we're inspired to take action. Before we jump into the practical steps to build your personal wellness plan, I want you to hold on to that feeling of empowerment.
DrC:The goal isn't just to avoid burnout, it's to create a life that feels good from the inside out. When we come back, I'm sharing my five-step framework for designing that life. Starting with a five-minute habit that can change your entire day. Don't go away.
DrC:Alright, let's flourish. We're moving from knowledge to action. Let's discuss a five-step framework for designing your own practical wellness plan.
DrC:First, a self-assessment. Before you build, you need a blueprint. Get honest with yourself. What are your biggest stress triggers? Where are you leaking energy? This isn't about judgment. It's about gathering data so that you could build a plan that truly supports you.
DrC:Second, your morning investment. This is about setting your intention for your day, and it only takes five minutes. We covered this thoroughly in episode four. So if you need to go back, go back and listen to episode four. Every morning, just write down the answers to these four questions. Today I will focus on. Today I am grateful for. Today I will let go of, and today I would dedicate five fifteen minutes to. If you can invest just five of those minutes in optimism, you can take control of the other 995 minutes.
DrC:Okay, our third action: managing our yeses. This is how we manage our stress throughout the day. To find balance, we have to become the gatekeeper of our time. Before we say yes, run it through your own personal criteria. For me, it sounds like this passion. Am I genuinely excited about this? Time. What's the real time cost? And what has to go? What am I letting go of in order to now take this on? Resources. Do I have the resources to produce high quality work? And then last, the resentment test. Will my future self thank me for this or be annoyed with me? See, sometimes our egos jump in front of our criteria for our yes and automatically says, absolutely, I can do that for you. And then we go home and go, Oh my goodness, how am I going to do all of this? How will I fit this in?
DrC:All right, moving on to our fourth strategy. That's your evening investment. This is how you close your day with positivity. No matter what happened, before you sleep, take two minutes to reflect on these prompts. What am I most proud of today? What inspired me today? What strengths did I use today? And what am I grateful for today?
DrC:This practice trains your brain to look for the good and to bring you back to a neutral state of happiness right before you go to sleep.
DrC:And fifth, your overall wellness commitment. This is where you identify the bigger, non-negotiable practices that fill your cup. This is your personal menu of self-care. It could be prayer, breathing techniques, daily affirmations, exercise, hiking, or quality time with family. You need to choose a few that resonate with you and schedule them into your week like any other important appointment.
DrC:That brings us to our final pillar: evolve. How do we make this wellness plan a permanent part of who we are? Evolving means you fully embrace that you cannot give what you don't have. When we run ourselves into the ground without daily replenishment, we're not just failing ourselves. We're modeling that behavior for everyone we love, mentor, and lead.
DrC:The evolution is the shift from seeing wellness as a reward to understanding it as the prerequisite for a full and healthy life. It's the moment you stop just liking the idea of being well and start actively, intentionally loving yourself enough to invest in your own growth every single day. That is how we build a life that's not just successful but sustainable.
DrC:That's how we become truly, unapologetically burnout proof.
DrC:The biggest takeaway today is that you are in the driver's seat of your own wellness. You cannot give what you don't have. You've just spent some time learning and now you have the knowledge.
DrC:The question is, are you ready to put that knowledge into action? Are you ready to truly invest in your well-being? Not just for a day, but for a lifetime? If you are, I encourage you to start small. Pick just one strategy we talked about today and commit to it for a week and see the benefits.
DrC:Join this conversation online with the hashtag my wellness plan. I would love to see what you're committing to. And if this episode sparks something in you, please share it with a friend who needs to hear it too.
